Janet M. Hewlett
Senior Managing Director and Co-FounderJan Hewlett has more than thirty years of experience focused on investment research, building and active management of investment portfolios as well as outside manager selection across a number of asset classes. Jan is a member of our Investment Committee and leads our equity portfolio activities, including investment selection and portfolio management. She works with our clients on specific portfolio issues and special research initiatives and previously served as our Chief Compliance Officer.
Jan was previously the director of equities for Diamond Capital Management, the investment management subsidiary of Dow Chemical’s pension fund and captive reinsurance company with over $10 billion in assets under management. Her responsibilities included leading the research and portfolio management team, directly managing equity portfolios with a value of $750 million, as well as manager selection and asset allocation strategy for the $4 billion equity allocation of Dow’s pension funds. As a member of the company’s Investment Policy Committee, she was involved with the investment management process related to all pension fund asset classes including equities, fixed income and alternative investments (venture capital, private equity, real estate, convertibles, etc.). Jan also previously served as Director of Research of an independent investment advisor with assets under management in excess of $2 billion.
Jan graduated summa cum laude from Central Michigan University with a BS in Mathematics. She earned an MBA in Finance, graduating magna cum laude, from Central Michigan University. She has attained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Jan has served in a variety of advisory roles for numerous organizations, and currently serves as finance chair for the Village Club. She has previously served on the Central Michigan University’s Advancement Board and as past president of the Village Club Foundation.
